The Ultra DAC – the breathtaking combination of the AVA technically optimized parallel processing digital-to-analog converter circuitry with the ultra-musicality and dynamics of our new Ultra hybrid analog filter circuitry.

We have taken all the research that went into our marvelous OmegaStar DAC and used our patented Ultra Hybrid Circuits vacuum tube circuits for the audio output instead of solid state – resulting in even more transparency, dynamics, and musicality. To achieve this no-compromise design, we started with converter and filter chips that can output a completely symmetrical waveform. This top-to-bottom and left-to-right symmetry is necessary to correctly recover all of the digital data. A multibit oversampling design was used because conventional 1-bit processors are still too slow to accurately convert high frequency information. Our uniquely pure digital design is then followed by our patented Transcendence vacuum tube hybrid current buffered ultra-clean audio filter/amplifiers to get you the music first class all the way.

New and improved for 2006 is an active regulated power supply board with six seperate high speed, high current active analog regulators, seperate for each section of the the hybrid tube filter section and digital section. This provides substantial gains in musicality, imaging, bass power, and freedom from grain. Upgrades to the hybrid filter board are included to accomodate the new power supply. The new larger chassis has allowed us to provide even better isolation between the power supply and the active circuits for quieter and purer operation yet.

Even more spacious, pure, and amazingly dynamic than a pricy analog turntable and cartridge setup, the Ultra DAC never has the mistracking, noise, or wear of vinyl. The midrange musicality and inner detail are breathtaking. You must experience the performance intelligibility, space, definition, absence of fatigue, and purity of voices to believe this kind of music from digital.

Any good tracking CD player or DVD player with a coaxial digital output and the Ultra DAC are all you need for exquisite CD performance. Your CD player’s compromised converter and analog circuits are bypassed with a single interconnect cable from the digital out to the digital input of the Ultra DAC. The left and right line outputs of the DAC connect to a pair of line inputs on your preamp or receiver. Prepare to be pleased.

Factory-wired in the SF chassis, 17" wide, 12" deep 3.5" high, 14 pounds. Mute circuit standard. Uses two select high gain 6N1P vacuum tubes. No adjustments necessary when changing tubes.

Audio Authority 977R Adaptor

For CD and Laser Disc players with TOSLINK optical outputs only, we offer the Audio Authority 977R optical-to-coax converter for $75 that will interface with the RCA coaxial input on the Ultra DAC. We did not build that extra cost into the DAC itself as coax is best and most won’t need optical converters. The Audio Authority 977R adaptor comes complete with their matching 805-002 power pack and their 801-047 two foot optical cable.
