The
crowning achievement of our complete product line redesign.
Our original Transcendence Seven preamplifiers have astonished
nearly everyone who has heard them. Now be prepared to be astonished
all over again. The preamp features a unique new active ten stage high current, wide band,
analog regulated power supply section, with separate regulator sections
for each section of each circuit. For even more stability and wide
band low noise performance, the new circuits are all contained on
a shielded ground plane mother board. New for 2008, the Ultra EC preamp has been recalibrated for very high current 6N1P line tubes.
These improvements extend the range, dynamic range, transient response,
and clarity even further, with an absolutely grain free presentation
and a huge three dimensional wall to wall and beyond sound stage.
If absolute faithfulness to the music with nothing added or glossed
over is your goal, you can likely do no better at any price.
We started with our basic patented design ideas that have worked
so well, and provided even better power supply isolation between
tube and mos-fet section with a much higher capability MOSFET buffer/driver
circuit, all running Class A, and came out with simply astonishing
results; the new Ultra EC preamplifier.
The Ultra EC preamp tells us that simpler is best if you can make
it work to perfection, and we have. Our famous patented Fet Valve
transimpedance gain cell just loves the high current drive of the
6N1P line tube and the much higher current gain of our power MOSFET
design in the loop isolator circuit. The circuit simply comes alive
with pure musicality, dynamic range, transient attacks, and range
extension we had not thought possible.
Not stopping there, we designed a new headphone driver circuit
to match the performance of the line stage. Now you don’t
even need a power amp or speakers to hear music as never before,
just high quality headphones.
If you would prefer an preamplifier with a more minimalist approach
(no tone controls, fewer control options) but with the same great
performance, be sure to check out the Ultra
SL preamplifier. (Compare chassis features here.)
Available factory-wired in the EC chassis.
The Ultra EC circuits are available as factory upgrades to all
existing Fet Valve and Transcendence EC preamplifiers. We always
strive to support our existing customers with the most modern and
musical circuits possible, retaining the quality hardware that does
not wear out and need not be replaced.
Optional
performance enhancements for the Ultra EC preamps:
The AVA Remote option adds remote controlled
volume and mute functions to your AVA preamp.
Ultra RIAA Phono Preamplifier
has been completely redesigned with the same high current Class
A power MOSFET output driver/buffer and circuit topology as the
new line section, with the exception that 12AX7A tubes are used
for the necessary open loop voltage gain to make the RIAA feedback
loop work perfectly. The improvement in phono performance with the
new regulated power supplies is simply astonishing. Your records
will exhibit the dynamic range and transient response of well recorded
CDs now, but with all the innate musicality of vinyl. The Ultra
phono section works great with any normal output phono cartridge,
head amp, or moving coil step-up transformer. Installed in the Special
location replacing one set of line level inputs.
Buffered Tape Outputs
provide a dedicated, fast, high-current circuit to enhance tape
loop performance. Isolate your sources from tape output loads. Many
tape decks and signal processors are terrible loads, causing degraded
audio performance, especially when the tape decks or processors
are connected but turned off! Make better sounding tapes and significantly
improve the overall musical performance of your system when the
tape loops are used.
240 V Wiring. The Ultra
preamplifiers can be supplied with 240 V/50 Hz power transformers
for foreign single phase 220/240 V operation.
